Drew Dundas Ph.D.

  • Bio

    Dr. Drew Dundas is a highly accomplished audiologist and researcher with a strong background in hearing and hearing aid research. He began his clinical training at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation and pursued further studies at Vanderbilt University, earning a PhD in Audiology and Biomedical Engineering. At Starkey Hearing Technologies, he conducted groundbreaking research in fitting algorithms, compressor design, and advanced signal processing.


    After a successful tenure as Director of Audiology and Professor of Otolaryngology at the University of California, San Francisco, overseeing clinical operations, resident education, and research, Dr. Dundas joined Soundhawk Corporation in 2013 as Chief Scientific Officer. There, he played a pivotal role in the development and validation of the Soundhawk Smart Listening System, a groundbreaking direct-to-consumer customizable personal sound amplification product (PSAP).


    In 2016, Dr. Dundas brought his expertise to Earlens Corporation, where he currently serves. As part of the team, he leads product development efforts for the Earlens System, collaborating closely with R&D, clinical research, and strategic marketing teams. Dr. Dundas is renowned for his contributions to the field and has been invited as a speaker at State, National, and International hearing and balance meetings. He has also authored numerous peer-reviewed articles and co-authored chapters on balance function assessment. Furthermore, his contributions have been recognized with multiple US and European patents related to hearing devices and personalized sound technology.


Joyce Crawford Au.D., CCC-A, CDP

    Dr. Joyce Crawford has over 30 years of experience in audiology. After graduating from the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill she joined the U.S. Army Medical Service Corps. Following 3 years of active- duty military service as an audiologist, she worked in a variety of medical settings to include Cleveland Clinic, Washington University School of Medicine, DoD Hearing Center of Excellence, St. Louis Children’s Hospital and House Ear Clinic. She has worked with all ages from newborn to senior citizens. She has expertise in diagnostics, cochlear implants, hearing aids and auditory processing disorders.


    For the last 10 years her focus has been in hearing aids. Her passion is people and bringing them joy and connection with the world. She strongly believes, “Well-hearing results in well-being.” Dr. Crawford joined the Earlens Hearing Center team in April 2022. Dr. Crawford loves to work with new technology introduced to the hearing industry. Throughout her career it has been her mission to provide the most

    current and the best hearing treatment options to her patients.

Michelle Inserra, MD

  • Bio

    Dr. Michelle Inserra did both her medical training and her residency in Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery at Stanford University and Hospitals. She then completed a fellowship in Otology and Neurotology at the California Ear Institute. After finishing her medical training, she joined the Otolaryngology Department at Kaiser Permanente in Santa Clara, where she practiced subspecialty surgical and clinical care in Otology for over 10 years. She has been with Ear Associates since 2017 and specializes in chronic ear disease, hearing loss, eustachian tube dysfunction, and vertigo and balance disorders. She also is a medical consultant and medical advisory board member for Earlens, a hearing aid startup company. 


    Originally from New York, she went to Brown University and obtained a degree in biomedical engineering. She did medical research at the Rockefeller University in New York City, before coming out to California to start her medical career.

    When she is not devoting her time to care for patients with ear related issues, she spends her time with her husband, stepsons, and 2 dachshunds. She enjoys Pilates and hiking.



Amanda Munoz, MD

  • Bio

    Dr. Muñoz earned her BA degree magna cum laude in Molecular, Cellular and Developmental Biology from Yale University in 2000. She received her medical degree from Harvard Medical School in 2006 and completed her otolaryngology-head and neck surgery residency at Stanford University School of Medicine in 2011. She is board certified in otolaryngology-head and neck surgery. She joined VMC and was also appointed to clinical faculty in the Stanford Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery department in 2011. She enjoys training the next generation of otolaryngologists and received the Stanford Oto-HNS Teacher of the Year Award in 2015. 


    Dr. Muñoz began seeing Earlens patients in early 2022. When she is not caring for patients, she spends her time with her husband, two elementary school-aged children and her new poodle mix puppy.  As a family, they love outdoor sports such as skiing, baseball and surfing.  She speaks English, medical Spanish, conversational French, and some Tagalog.

Peter Li, MD

  • Bio

    Dr Peter Li currently works as an otologist at EarLens Hearing Center in Menlo Park. 


    Originally from Hong Kong, Dr Li studied medicine at Cambridge University in the UK and then moved to the US in 2005 for a research fellowship in otology at Harvard Medical School. 


    He completed residency training in Otolaryngology / Head and Neck Surgery at Stanford University and is a graduate of the faculty fellowship Biodesign program at the Stanford Byers Center for Biodesign. 



    Following training, Dr. Li ran a comprehensive otolaryngology practice at Stanford for many years before joining Kaiser Permanente in Santa Clara. 


    When he is not seeing patients, Dr. Li enjoys learning about new medical technologies and spending time with his family.
